Widmouth Bay beach is very popular with surfers and during the holiday season there is an ever vigilant lifeguard on duty. While we were there the Red and Yellow flags were moved several times and the lifeguard patrolled the beach at regular intervals. Loud hailers are used to tell any stray surfer if they go outside the safe zone.
