The Percuil River in addition to being very popular with boat owners is also a beautiful wildlife haven. It is governed by the twice-daily ebb and flow tides and when the mud is exposed at low water it provides rich feeding for shorebirds. Herons are seen fishing at the water's edge and for cormorants when the tide is in.
