This dam looks lovely today but it was part of the milling industry in the past. Three tide mills were to be found in the Percuil River area, two in St Anthony and one at Gerrans. At Froe creek on the parish boundary with Gerrans a dam was built at the head of the creek and the resulting pool filled by the flood tide, and then the ebb was controlled so that its run turned the mill wheel.
