No where else in the UK does this arrangement of two aligned standing stones with one holed stone exist. It is said that passing through the hole in the centre in the direction of the sun help to cure ailments.
It is uncertain as to the purpose of the megalithic Men-an-Tol (holed stone). Speculation ranges from a burial chamber to a stone circle, of which traces have been found of an additional eleven stones. Men-an-Tol is probably the most controversial as well as photographed megalithic sites in Cornwall.
