Mother Ivey's Bay was chosen as the lifeboat station for Padstow. The problem with putting it at Padstow itself was that it is situated in a tidal river and would not always be suitable for launching. The present location at Trevose Head was chosen as it is always accessible whatever the state of the tide or sea conditions.
