Often mistaken as some kind of monument the stack on the top of Cape Cornwall is in fact a mine ventilation chimney. Cape Cornwall was once a mine that extracted tin and copper. The mines shaft was vertical for 30 fathoms then followed the dip of the lode for another 70 fathoms.
