The tide seems to come in quite quickly at Wilcove and there is a different aspect to the river at high tide. Wilcove is a comparitevly small community and in the years between the wars ten extended families with surnames Carter, Turner, Squance, Lee and Viguse made up the bulk of the population. Today these names are still prevalent as many of their descendants still live in the area.
