St Mawes castle is an impressive sight against the lovely blue winter sky.
The castle was built in the 1540's by Henry VIII as part of his coastal defences but a shot was never fired from the canons. The castle is in the custodianship of English Heritage and visitors can look around the Tudor interior which is still in very good condition.
