About: Tall pine trees and smaller deciduous trees make a covered walk in the Glyn Valley. At times this can seem quite dark but it is just possible to look down through the trees and see the river below.

The Glyn Valley is a picturesque region between Bodmin and Liskeard. A peculiar feature of the area is the fact that the river, the railway and the road all run alongside each other for much of the way.
Located near Bodmin in the valley are the Cabilla and Redrice Woods one of the largest ancient woodlands in the county. The area dates back at least 400 years and the network of paths has remained largely unchanged from maps dating back to 1602. This is mixed woodland with ancient oak and hazel coppice combined with a river and wetland area. Driving down through the valley the magnificent trees can’t fail to impress any visitor with their splendour. A very rare nocturnal blue ground beetle is found here, five different species of bat and that dear little creature the elusive dormouse.
There is a large shop in the valley called Trago Mills and the owner has endeavoured to make very pretty riverside walks with areas for picnics and barbecues and as an added bonus there are interesting topical statues alongside the path.
