About: The tide seems to come in quite quickly at Wilcove and there is a different aspect to the river at high tide. Wilcove is a comparitevly small community and in the years between the wars ten extended families with surnames Carter, Turner, Squance, Lee......

About: The building of Devonport dockyard accounted for an influx of tradesmen into Wilcove and the surrounding area. When the 1821 census was published it showed that the population of Wilcove was heavily influenced by these workers and naval personnel.

About: This swan was photographed a very short distance from the Wilcove Inn. The young cygnets came out of the water onto the bank but the parent swans stayed in the water and kept a very close eye on the photographer.
